Vir Das puts comedy on hold
Vir Das is now all set to impress the audiences with some intense drama.
Known for his wit and comic timing, Vir Das is now all set to impress the audiences with some intense drama with his upcoming Bollywood projects. The actor was seen in 31st October, which released last week, and is now gearing up for his next movies, Raakh and Shivaay. In order to do his homework for serious roles, Vir has been keeping away from comedy.
Says a source close to Vir, “To prepare for his roles, Vir had to keep away from his comic side for an indefinite period of time. When Milan Zaveri, Raakh’s director, approached Vir, he was adamant to adapt to the role. So much so that he gave up comedy — something he’s best known for. Vir also refrained from doing any live shows, or stand up acts, in order to immerse himself in the role preparation work for his films.”
When contacted, Vir admitted that the story was true. “I stayed away from comedy consciously for a month before the movies. I wanted to stay in the mood of the character, and felt that keeping away from comedy let me remain like the on screen character. I’ve always been keen on doing varied roles, given that I’ve done theatre when I was younger. I’m glad the directors saw that I could essay this character.”
