'Wait and watch': Sujoy Ghosh on Big B making an appearance in 'Kahaani 2'

Director Sujoy Ghosh’s Kahaani starring Vidya Balan set the bar high at the box office. No wonder then that expectations are high from its sequel, Kahaani 2.

“Kahaani was liked by the audiences because of its woman centric theme and the strong character played by Vidya, so we decided to make Kahaani 2 hoping to get the same respect and appreciation as the first part. The pressure of being compared to Kahaani is of course playing on our minds. The journey of the character has to be liked by the audiences,” explains Sujoy.

Talking about the legendary Amitabh Bachchan starring in his films, Sujoy says, “It is a feel good factor for me whenever Amitji is in and around our sets. Iske aage peeche mujhe kuch bhi nahin chahiye hota hai.”

Recalling his first interaction with the actor, he says, “I came in contact with Amitji when I was making a film titled Borivali. Since then, I have constantly been in touch with him.”

Sujoy refuses to disclose Amitabh’s role in the film, saying “you will have to wait and watch the film.” He however, reveals, “The first film of Amitji’s that I saw was Kala Pathar. I remember noticing the black and white poster in Kolkata then and feeling inspired to watch his film. Since then, I have watched almost all his films.
When asked if his dream of directing Amitabh Bachchan has been fulfilled many times over, Sujoy praises the legend, saying, “Amitabh Bachchan is the finest actor even in today’s times. The exuberance in his performances then and now — are undoubtedly loved by trillions of audiences worldwide. I really enjoy watching him onscreen and off screen as well. Amitji is a fantastic actor.”
Most important of all, Sujoy admits that ‘it feels good when Amitji is there around us’.
