Having the same theme as recently released Kesari starring Akshay Kumar, Rajkumar’s film will see the light of the day later this year.
Mumbai: Filmmaker Rajkumar Santoshi, who made his directorial debut with Ghayal in 1990 and went on to make films like Damini, Andaz Apna Apna, Pukar, Lajja, The Legend of Bhagat Singh and Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, is all enthused once again about his soon to release film Battle of Saragarhi.
Having the same theme as recently released Kesari starring Akshay Kumar, Rajkumar’s film will see the light of the day later this year.
“We are planning the release of our film in August-September,” informs Santoshi at the special screening of Divyansh Pandit’s short film Raat Baaki Baat Baaki that features Jacky Shroff as a father of a martyred soldier.
Adding more about his film, Rajkumar says, “I can assure you that our film is totally based on history. Being a period film, we have kept it true to the incidents that happened in that particular period. In short, we have tried to stick to the history in the true sense.”
When asked for his take on Kesari and how different would his film be, he says, “How can I point out any difference with regards to the latest film Kesari when I haven’t watched it yet?”. So, does he have any plans to work with his Ghayal hero Sunny Deol? Surprisingly, he does. “Right now, Sunny Deol is busy directing Pal Pal Dil Ke Paas, which is the debut film of his son (Karan).
Right after the release of this film, we have plans to work together. We have already discussed it,” he concludes.
