Fast fashion is harmful, says Malavika Mohanan
The budding actress walked the ramp for designer Padmaja, and is all praise for the latter.
Malavika Mohanan, who made her Bollywood debut with Beyond The Clouds, turned into a showstopper at the ongoing Lakme Fashion Week.
The budding actress walked the ramp for designer Padmaja, and is all praise for the latter. “We share similar ideas when it comes to textures and fabrics, so it becomes very easy to work, and it’s more fun to work with people who share the same vibe,” says Malavika.
The actress, who loves cotton and handloom, feels that fast fashion is harmful. “I have grown up around my mother’s cotton saris. Now, it’s important for us to get aware how our actions affect the environment globally, because fast fashion is quite harmful to the planet.”
Hence, advocating for sustainable fashion, Malavika says, “I never really understood the myth about sustainable fashion not being cool or fashionable. In fact, I feel the most beautiful when I wear it. A simple cotton sari with a nice pair of jhumkas makes me feel beautiful. For me, it was very important that I get associated with sustainable fashion since I wanted to wear something that’s sustainable.”
