Mira is real, she reminds me of everything that I get isolated from: Shahid Kapoor
At a film festival, the actor opened up about his lovely wife Mira, little baby girl Misha and fatherhood.
Mumbai: On Sunday, Shahid Kapoor attended MAMI film festival in Mumbai where the actor opened up about his wife Mira, little baby girl Misha and fatherhood.
While speaking during a chat session at the ongoing 18th Jio MAMI International Film Festival with Star, Shahid was asked why he married a girl outside the industry, to which the actor cleared his stand by saying that he was never against marrying someone from the industry itself but was looking for a partner who is real and more in-connect with the world than him.
“I am an actor and have great respect for what I do. So it is not like I have a problem with that or anything. I have had relationships with actresses and that have been public. I just felt like it was important to find somebody who, ideally for someone like me who lives in a bit of a bubble, it’s nice to find somebody who is real and normal and reminds you of everything that you kind of get isolated from. Whether you like it or not, the minute you become a celebrity, you are not gonna be able to do everything that a normal individual can do, and that immediately starts limiting your exposure to everything that is real and normal. Even though you try your best to be normal, from a normal person’s point of view, you’re very not normal," Shahid said.
The actor also said how everything has changed ever since Mira entered his life. "There are things that Mira tells me, which are just so normal and I am still connected with that. I had probably forgotten 50 per cent of that, but she brings them right back at my life. Like, the price of petrol and how much I spend on online shopping." He added.
Shahid, who has a sea facing house at Juhu beach, revealed how Mira loves to stay outdoors but now that people recognise her, she doesn't get to do it more often anymore. "Mira loves outdoors. But she complains that 'now people recognise me, I hate it.' It is just nice to be with someone who is connected to reality. Because I missed that side of my life. She is 13 years younger than me so, she shows me the perspective of my audience."
He added, "Sometimes when I read a script and can't relate to it, she looks at me and is like 'Are you insane? This is exactly what normal people talk about. How can you not relate to this?'"
Now, a new addition, Misha, has joined Shahid and Mira's happy family and things have changed for the better. The actor told everyone how fatherhood has made him stronger. He said, "It (fatherhood) gives me a lot of strength. I feel very strong, because I want to fight for Misha, be my best for her. That's inherently the feeling every morning. I want to get up and do better work because I want her to be proud of me."
