From equal share to losing 40:60 screens to Raees, Rakesh Roshan feels betrayed
The much anticipated 'Kaabil'-'Raees' box-office clash commences today.
Mumbai: Rakesh Roshan has been quite vocal about his displeasure over Shah Rukh Khan and Excel Entertainment deciding to release their 'Raees,' on the same day as his 'Kaabil'. His reasons were understandable, since he had locked down the date for the Hrithik Roshan starrer, much before 'Raees,' got pushed multiple times, finally settling on January 25.
If anyone had to move, it was Shah Rukh Khan.
However, both went along, head on towards the titanic clash. Hrithik was gracious, reiterating irrespective of what the result of the clash would be, personal equations won't be damaged.
Shah Rukh, producer Farhan would maintain the same.
Both the films were promised an equal bifurcation of scenes, with a 50:50 ratio.
However, Rakesh Roshan was in for a rude shock today, when the distributors decided to reassign it to 60:40, in the favour of 'Raees'.
"I am so shocked about getting 60:40 screens in India. The exhibitors promised us 50:50 screens all over but they didn’t do as planned on the released date. My question is that when my film has got equal amount of screens overseas then why not in India? I have always made films for the audience and made them believe that they are one of the characters of my film, be it Khoon Bhari Maang, Karan Arjun, Koyla, Koi Mil Gaya or Krrish. I am not bothered about the clash with Raees at all but I feel the exhibitors are influenced with the star power in our country. I feel sad that corporates have taken industry many steps back, earlier it wasn’t the case," a disappointed Rakesh Roshan told us.
While Hrithik chose to remain silent on the screen ratio, he did tweet to SRK, in the wake of the clash, with graceful wishes.
It remains to be seen how this much talked about clash finally culminates.
