Hindi Medium 2 turns English Medium?
The film will also take a leap and see Irrfan’s daughter going to the US for higher education.
Mumbai: The Hindi Medium sequel is now going to be called English Medium. The film will also take a leap and see Irrfan’s daughter going to the US for higher education. And, hence there was a requirement for a new title that will also help the film address the international audience.
“Hindi Medium 2 was just a working title. So once the script was locked, the makers decided to keep the title according to the subject. The film now has a time and a country leap, and there will be people of other ethnicities as well. Since the film is now based in the US, it will duly be called English Medium,” informs a source.
The film is now looking globally as there are many students across the globe who go to the US for higher education and English is not their first language.
“The film will not just address the issues of Hindi medium students in the US but also those of the students from other countries who face trouble fitting into a system where English is the primary spoken language. Keeping that in mind, director Saket Chaudhary, who helmed the first instalment, has been replaced by Homi Adajania who has directed films such as like Being Cyrus, Finding Fanny and Cocktail,” adds the source.
The actress to be cast opposite Irrfan as his wife is still under finalisation and will be from the bank of actresses already signed up by the producers.
