Acting is a selfish joy; being a parent is selfless, says Shahid Kapoor
The Batti Gul Meter Chalu actor admits that he is a much better father than he is an actor.
Shahid Kapoor has every reason to smile as his latest release, Batti Gul Meter Chalu, seems to be doing good business at the box office. Talking about his plans for the future, the actor reveals that he’s open to working on digital content, provided it’s “exciting enough”.
“I have always said, the only problem is that I do only one film at a time because most of the projects I take up require me to change my look and rediscover myself as an actor. But if something exciting enough comes my way and I am not committed to many other projects, then I’m open to it,” Shahid says.
He adds that he currently has a full schedule, and so he can’t think of entering the digital space right away.
“At this stage, I have enough stuff to do, so practically, I don’t see an immediate possibility of taking it up. But I am definitely excited by the fact that the medium offers actors something new,” he says. Shahid also admits that while he’s considered one of the industry’s best actors today, he’s a much better father to his kids Misha and Zain.
“I think I do better as a dad than as an actor on most occasions, though there are still many things that I need to learn. I have met very few other dads who are so into their kids. Meanwhile, I need to be told to calm down,” he says, adding, “Acting is a selfish joy of mine, but being a parent is selfless.”
