Christmas is a magical season and it’s no different for the stars. While some of them relive their childhood Christmas traditions and indulge in good food, the others enjoy spending time with their loved ones.

Reliving childhood memories
Usually, I am home and celebrate Christmas with my family.  When I was a kid, I thought Santa Claus was real. I would try to be awake all night to see if he really came over. In the morning, we would wake up and open our presents. Christmas is often celebrated at my mother’s house with my maternal grandparents. Every year on Christmas, my mom cooks the entire traditional meal — stuffed roast turkey, bread sauce, mashed potatoes, brown gravy and Christmas plum pudding.

Celebrate all festivals
Our house celebrates all the festivals possible in India. My father was a Gujarati and my mother was Muslim. My wife Ayesha’s father was a Bengali and mother a Christian. So, the children have grown up celebrating all festivals from Id to Diwali and Ganesh chaturthi to Christmas. The children are very enthusiastic and follow all rituals.                   —Jackie Shroff

Lunch at mom’s place always
My mom usually has a beautiful Christmas tree that is well-decorated. All the kids in the house help her decorate the tree. We go for the midnight mass and then spend time together and celebrate. Wine and the traditional plum cake are always on offer. We sleep over at mom’s place and get up in the morning to open the presents. By afternoon, we have a proper Christmas lunch that is traditionally made.
Christmas for me is about the spirit of happiness and about giving freely. It’s also so much about family, eating, drinking, etc.
