SRK's Aanand L Rai film christened Katrina Meri Jaan, to star Anushka and Kat

Mumbai: Aanand L Rai’s upcoming film, starring Shah Rukh Khan has been in the news for various reasons. The novel fact that SRK would be playing a dwarf for the very first time in his life was one of them.

There were rumours doing the rounds, way back in 2015, that the film had been christened ‘Katrina Meri Jaan,’ and it was about a small town man who wishes to meet his Bollywood idol. However, aanand had refuted all rumours and laughed them off, even hdenying the involvement of Shah Rukh in the film.

But now, it’s been confirmed that the film has indeed been titled ‘Katrina Meri Jaan,’ and will also star Katrina as herself as one of the two leading ladies.

Apart from that, the second female lead, which was initially to be played by Deepika Padukone, will now be essayed by Anushka Sharma. Anushka will be seen playing a mentally challenged girl. The three had earlier starred together in Yash Chopra’s swansong ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’.

“After Deepika Padukone and Alia Bhatt were unable to commit to the film, Aanand approached Anushka. The actress found the role challenging and agreed to do it. She also shares a great rapport with SRK and Katrina, and decided to come on board. It’s an exciting film for all the three actors,” DNA quoted a source as saying.

Confirms director Aanand L Rai, " I'm thrilled that Anushka Sharma joins Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif for my next. From our very first meeting, she had an instant connect with the character. She seemed very excited about the challenges that this role entails. She’s at a more than ready stage in her career to essay a complex role like this. We have been working on her look and prepping for the film. It was only once things fell into place that we wanted to announce Anushka’s casting."

The film is slated for a Christmas 2018 release.
