They were trying too hard to be professional: Anurag Basu on Ranbir-Katrina split
The director admitted to being extremely nervous when the news of them breaking up started floating ahead of Jagga Jasoos' shoot.
Mumbai: Ranbir Kapoor and Katrina Kaif may have broken up last year but the alleged former couple hitting splitville is talked about even to this day.
One movie that everyone assumed will get badly affected by the break-up was Anurag Basu’s ‘Jagga Jasoos’ and the director knew it all too well.
In a chat show, when asked about whether he was worried about the infamous break-up affecting his film, Basu said, “I did, on the first day when the news broke out and they came to the set. But on that very day, I realised that they are trying to concentrate more, and that has really helped me as a director. I’m being very selfish and it must have been very difficult for both of them, but they were actually trying very hard to be professional for the first two-three days and after that it was fine. It never affected the film. It’s not that I’m giving a very political correct answer but this is a fact.”
Explaining as to what took him so long to complete the film, he said, “It’s tough. In between, there were frustrating times, but we were so much in love with the film that we didn’t want to compromise. In hindsight, this film would have taken this much time only, because it is a musical. Even if I had the soundtrack ready for the entire film earlier, I think it would have taken the same time.”
Earlier this year, there were reports of Ranbir and Katrina not willing to promote ‘Jagga Jasoos’ together because of their history but the duo has proved all those rumours wrong with their camaraderie at promotional activities.
Both the actors are leaving no stone unturned to make this detective-drama work.
Co-produced by Ranbir Kapoor, Anurag Basu and Siddharth Roy Kapur, ‘Jagga Jasoos’ is slated to release on July 14.
