After the actor delivered a brilliant performance, stealing the show in the Aanand L Rai directorial Atrangi Re, Dhanush is now being sought after by more Bollywood filmmakers.

Dhanush — who prefers to be known as just an actor and not a south actor — has transcended language barriers despite speaking a lot of Tamil in the film, which also stars Sara Ali Khan and Akshay Kumar.

According to veteran film critic Ajay Brahmatmaj, “Dhanush actually managed to pull the rabbit out of Akshay Kumar’s magician hat in the film standing his ground in a Hindi film opposite the most successful actor in recent times. Akshay has been perfectly, though subversively, cast in the film and that is the reason Dhanush also manages to stand out in the film. The reason was also because the director avoided any confrontational scenes between the two and most of the scenes have been shot individually due to the pandemic. There are hardly any scenes when you can see them in the same frame and the scenes where they are together have been beautifully shot. I’m sure that Dhanush’s confidence will soar. He’s become rather sophisticated now in terms of Hindi and if you watch films like Asuran and Karnan, you’d see he’s already a great actor in Tamil.”

The critic also deconstructs Dhanush’s work with Aanand, citing the chemistry for the success. “Balki could not get in Shamitabh what Aanand managed to do not only in Atrangi Re but in Raanjhanaa too. Hindi audiences like him a lot now,” claims Brahmatmaj.

Meanwhile, Dhanush says that he’s looking forward to doing more films in Hindi as well. “I’ll be signing some films soon. I’ve not signed anything yet and will work on my Hindi when I prepare for the next role,” he says.
