Veteran actress and television show host Kirron Kher, has spoken up for fellow Bollywood star Salman Khan as the goodwill ambassador for India in the Rio Olympics 2016. Kirron joined a long list of celebs who have spoken for the IOA’s decision to make an actor the ambassador for the sports event.

Talking at the launch of her upcoming television show, Kirron explained why she thought Salman was apt for the job. The star, who was a former athlete and who even represented the country told the media that Salman’s appointment as ambassador will draw corporates in and in turn help sportsmen secure a lot more financial support.

“I think we know Milkha uncle very well. He lives in Chandigarh and I’m sure you all know that I am from there too. I think when we choose someone like Salman Khan, it brings a lot of corporates in. We have a lot of games that are not cricket, and are in need of a lot of money to support the teams and coaches. The government does whatever it can do. I think, if he (Salman Khan) brings it all in with him, I think it is wonderful for all the sportsmen involved,” Kirron said at the launch event.

She went on to say, “I was hurt when someone on television said that we film people live in an imaginary world and the sportsmen live in reality. I would like to tell them that we live very much in reality and the amount of hard work we do, I doubt anyone in this country can or in the world can do. To entertain looks very flippant, but it is the hardest thing in the world.”

He has been there for a long time and he has lasted a long time, there must be something in the gentleman that inspires all of us.”
