Exclusive: Was dejected when Trapped didn't win any National Award, says Rajkummar
The acclaimed actor will be seen alongside Shruti Haasan in the upcoming rom-com, 'Behen Hogi Teri'.
Mumbai: The 64th National Film Awards was recently held and films like 'Airlift,' 'Rustom', 'Pink' and 'Neerja' from Bollywood swept many awards.
Interestingly, Vikramaditya Motwane’s 'Trapped' starring Rajkummar Rao was also submitted for the National Film Awards in 2016 itself, but unfortunately, it didn’t make it to any category at the prestigious award function.
When asked about it, the National award-winning actor Rajkummar Rao exclusively divulged to Deccan Chronicle stating, "Yes, I felt sad when 'Trapped' didn't win any National Award. 'Trapped' was submitted in 2016 for the National Award."
The film was a survival-drama-thriller about a guy named Shaurya, played by Rajkummar Rao, who gets trapped in his own house at a high rise building with no escape route.
The movie had its world premiere at the 18th Jio MAMI Mumbai International Film Festival last year and received a standing ovation.
Well, maybe this is the reason Rao was looking forward to the film sweeping awards at the National Film Award function.
It made it to the big screens on March 17.
Though the film did deserve accolades, it doesn't matter, better luck next time Rajkummar!
