'I am extremely scared right now': Prernaa Arora breaks silence on controversies
Reports of non-payment from Prerna's KriArj Entertainment have been in the news, but she rubbishes them as rumors.
“Honestly, I am extremely scared right now. I have gone through a tough phase. I was very gutsy, but right now, I am too scared” says producer Prerna Arora, about starting her new project. She will be announcing three films in June. She was once a fearless investor, but today, she hesitates to make decisions. Prerna tasted success overnight and was in everyone’s good books. But, after the news of her non-payment of dues did the rounds, people have started pointing fingers at her.
However, after deciding to take a step back from projects like Kedarnath, Parmanau, and Batti Gul Meter Chalu, she has gained clarity and is all set to embark on a new journey.
Commenting on the fiasco, Prerna says it happened because she signed too many films.
“I should have waited till Padman or Pari released and then taken on other films so that I could focus. I also went overboard and became a little overconfident,” says the Rustom producer. She also feels that people were unfair towards her. “I believe there were people who were jealous and they jumped in to do things which were unreasonable. I was very hurt,” Prerna says.
Reports of non-payment from Prerna’s KriArj Entertainment have been in the news, but she rubbishes them as rumors.
She says, “No, it’s not true at all, because we have paid everyone. Kedarnath happened and then people took advantage of my situation.”
Prerna feels she has been taken advantage of. “I don’t want to name the actor, but because I am new, you demand a certain amount for your project, and later I get to know you are charging a much lesser amount for another project. All these things have really shattered me,” Prerna rues.
Prerna also reveals that women producers are bullied.
She says, “You get bullied for sure. You could be intelligent, but some people can’t take that and try to pull you down. They can’t accept a woman doing well.” Talking about her own experience, the producer says, “I felt I was getting bullied and cornered and was becoming a soft target for a lot of people because I didn’t have a mentor in this industry.”
