Actress Sonakshi Sinha is all set to take the silver screen by storm with an action-packed role in her upcoming film, Akira. The actress says, “Woman oriented films are a sign of acceptance from the audiences. Now, filmmakers are also anxiously looking forward to making them. I am happy that a meticulous director like A. R. Murugadoss approached me for Akira.”

The actress is very happy with her journey in Bollywood. “I am happy the way I have been approached for different kinds of roles. I have never gone to any acting school or felt nervous. On the other hand, I love to be in front of the camera as I am passionate about acting.”

Sonakshi is proud that Indian women athletes have done so well in the Olympics and brought home medals. “It shows that women are doing well and this is their time,” she says.

Sona is passionate about self-defence, especially for girls. “After my film Holiday, I have been promoting the cause of self-defence, especially for girls. Martial arts needs to be imparted to all girls so that they can protect themselves, especially in today’s times. I will be promoting this cause in the future also.”

Just ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, Sonakshi expresses her displeasure on the state of the beaches after the idols have been immersed. She says, “I really feel sorry to watch a half headed Ganpati fallen on the beach. This is a disrespect towards God. The dirt that gathers is an ugly sight. As a kid though, I would love to get onto a truck and sing with everyone else. I do miss doing this now.”

Denying rumours of marriage, Sonakshi clarifies, “Before doing such stories, one needs to get their facts right. Journalism is a responsible job. Luckily, we have a platform like Twitter where such news can be countered. Anyway, I do not pay heed to gossip; I have stopped reading all such gossipy news.”

Prod her on how her dream man would be and the actress says, “He is not going to be filmy at all. He has to be a good person with a sense of humour. And, of course, match my personality.”
