Katrina Kaif pins hopes on Tiger Zinda Hai
After a series of flops, Katrina hopes the Salman Khan starrer will revive her career.
With three thundering flops in a row, Katrina Kaif’s career is definitely not in the pink of health — and she knows it. Desperate attempts to promote Baar Baar Dekho too have proved to be an exercise in futility. Now, Katrina is staring at the prospect of having to salvage her career by two of her exes, Ranbir Kapoor in Jagga Jasoos and Salman Khan in Tiger Zinda Hai.
Of these, say trade experts, the Salman starrer seems to be Katrina’s better bet. Says a trade analyst, “It’s a matter of conjecture how positively the success of Tiger Zinda Hai will impact Katrina’s career. Everybody knows that a Salman starrer is a blockbuster, irrespective of who his heroine is.”
This leaves Kat with the ill-fated Anurag Basu-helmed Jagga Jasoos. The movie has been dragging its feet for close to three years, with shooting and re-shootings ensuring that nobody really knows what the film originally looked like.
And as a young actor puts it bluntly, “With Ranbir and Katrina’s flop tally being equal — three each — they can now give solace to each other over one more film not doing well.”
So what does Kat do now? According to her friends in the entertainment industry, she’s hoping to revamp her career, working with blockbuster directors like Rohit Shetty and Farah Khan.
“She’s done with out-of-the-box epics after Kabir Khan’s Phantom, Abhishek Kapoor’s Fitoor and Nitya Mehra’s Baar Baar Dekho. And she has washed her hands off Jagga Jasoos,” informs a friend. “Beginning with Tiger Zinda Hai, which is directed by her friend Ali Abbas Zafar, she will do only big commercial films.”
