After Twitter outrage, Vishal Dadlani apologises 33 times for targeting a Jain monk
Singer and composer Vishal Dadlani was also one of those who argued how politics should be kept aside from religion.
Mumbai: On August 26, a monk addressed the Haryana Assembly and soon, the pictures of a nude monk delivering a speech in the assembly became a serious topic of discussion everywhere, including Twitter.
While many debated over how politics should be kept aside from religion, few also threw light on how a Jain nude monk was not obscenity and simply an important part of Jainism.
Singer and composer Vishal Dadlani was also one of those who argued how politics should be kept aside from religion. In his tweet, Vishal called Digambar Jain monk Tarun Sagar’s speech as ‘monkery’. Vishal took to Twitter to express his views. He tweeted with a picture, “If you voted for these people, YOU are responsible for this absurd nonsense! #NoAchcheDin, just #NoKachcheDin.”
In his tweet, Vishal cleared how he has a problem with religion in governance.
People actually trying to defend the colossal idiocy of some naked monk, addressing Haryana assembly, telling women how to live! UNREAL! (2)

(2) That dude has the same education, as he has clothes on. None. I've no problem with nudity. I have a problem with religion in governance.

Within few minutes, his comment faced a serious backlash from Twitterarti, as offended people slammed him for his insensitive disrespectful remark. Not only user but Vishal’s ‘friends’ such as Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal criticized the singer on Twitter.
Tarun Sagar ji Maharaj is a very reverred saint, not just for jains but everyone. Those showing disrespect is unfortunate and shud stop

I apologise for hurting feelings of Jain community by my friend @VishalDadlani. I seek kshama from Muni Shri Tarun Sagar ji Maharaj.

Those who don’t know, Vishal Dadlani is a member and firm supporter of Arvind Kejriwal’s AAP.
Vishal even aplogised to Kejriwal by tweeting, "I'm sorry to have offended you and your beliefs too, Sir. My intent was not to hurt anyone. Spoke without thinking."
As he found himself standing all alone against everyone else, Vishal soon took a step back and apologised to everyone for his comment that hurt religious sentiments.
I apologise if I've upset Jain feelings. The intent was to ridicule the merger of religion & governance, and not any religion in particular.

I apologise again. But can't 'religious beliefs' be peacefully disconnected from governance? https://t.co/ecMrTmX8HL

I got carried away. I apologise to you, and all concerned. Now, can we not have religion in governance? https://t.co/fQzmUKgwvF

Happy to apologise to each person I may have upset. But let's also talk about disconnecting religion & governance. https://t.co/FFXe0crAJ1

I apologise to you too. But I insist that religion and governance mustn't overlap. It will destroy India. https://t.co/ohgkbXgn5O

Already found some. I apologise to him and you. But can we all, for India's sake, disconnect religion and politics? https://t.co/zqpdU3KybQ

After apologising to one and all, Vishal then decided to quit AAP and his association with politics.
It feel bad that I hurt my Jain friends & my friends @ArvindKejriwal & @SatyendarJain .I hereby quit all active political work/affiliation.
— VISHAL DADLANI (@VishalDadlani) August 27, 2016
A lot is being said against AAP because I chose to quit. I just want to say, AAP is a family. Please keep faith in AK & the party! (2)

(2) I made a mistake by offending the peaceful Jain community, and I felt the only way to truly apologise, was to renounce my ego (3)
