Mumbai: Based on the life of Olympian Balbir Singh, the first person to win gold medal for independent India in 1948, ‘Gold’ is one of the highly anticipated movies of 2018.

Reports suggest that Akshay will start shooting his parts in the month of July.

Earlier this month, we were the first ones to inform filmmaker Reema Kagti all set to direct a film on that epic win will shoot the Olympian winning game in Bradford. Her reason to choose in the verdant vastness of this Yorkshire County is the local Asian population who she plans to have as spectators.

The much-loved television actress Mouni Roy will play Akshay Kumar’s leading lady.

Reema says she wanted to make a sports film for the longest time. “My friend, the lyricist-writer Ankur Tiwari, shared the idea of a movie on the epic  Olympian hockey match and I finally got down to doing my own sports film,” she says.

“It’s a fictional take on what happened. Also, it is not just the golden victory in 1948 we will be looking at, but it will encompass 12 crucial years in India’s history,” she concluded.

‘Gold’ is slated to release on August 15 next year.
