Mumbai: The so-called ‘clash’ between Karan Johar’s ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ and Ajay Devgn’s ‘Shivaay’ on October 28 has been a topic of discussion for the past few weeks. The controversies associated with the films, like political parties protesting the release of ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ or Kamaal Rashid Khan troubling the makers of ‘Shivaay’ with his audio clip or by leaking the film, had also generated significant buzz about both the films.

But films are ultimately judged on the basis of its performance at the box-office and the opening day collections of the two films see the Ranbir Kapoor-Anushka Sharma-Aishwarya Rai Bachchan starrer edging past the Ajay Devgn directorial.

As reported by numerous trade portals and trade analysts, ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ has managed to earn a bit more than Rs. 13 crores while ‘Shivaay’ has earned around 9-10 crores.

While the films released on the occasion of Dhanteras, which is considered as pre-Diwali, the collections of the two films are expected to rise substantially on Saturday and Sunday. According to early estimates, ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ is doing well at multiplexes across the country while ‘Shivaay’ is doing well at single screens.

It would now be interesting to see if the trend of the collections remains the same or there is some turnaround.
