After the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti claimed that Salman Khan’s upcoming film Dabangg 3 hurt the religious sentiments of Hindus, a Twitter trend called #BoycottDabangg3 trended all of Friday. The scene in question shows sadhus dancing with Khan in the Hud Hud Dabangg number.

The Maharashtra and Chattisgarh branch of Hindu Janjagruti Samiti raised concerns over the scene in the film and asked the Censor Board to eliminate the sequence as “it hurts religious sentiments”. They said that the clip has “insulted Hindu gods — Lord Ram and Shiva as it featured sadhus dancing on Western songs.” “We also request the Censor Board to not certify the film until the following part has been eliminated or else, we will continue to protest,” said Sunil Ghanwat of the Hindu Janajagruti Samiti.

While the makers are mum on the issue, Salman’s fans are busy trending another hashtag called #AwaitingDabangg3. “They are not saints who are dancing, they are Shiv Bhakts and known as Bhole ke Bhandari who drink Bhaang and also dance like this (sic),” tweeted a fan. The film is slated for release in three weeks from now and will be up for certification in the days to come.
