Aayush Agarwal: Filmy dreams

Five months ago it was a shot in the dark for Aayush Agarwal. After all, he was one among hundreds who auditioned for a role in a Sridevi-Akshaye Khanna-starrer. But it happened. After an online audition, where many were screened, this 19-year-old finally bagged the project. The upcoming film, Mom, which according to sources will see Sridevi play a stepmom in conflict with her 18-year-old daughter, will see Aayush playing the role of Sridevi’s daughter’s friend. “It’s a pivotal character. I have finished shooting three schedules, two of which have been very hectic. Between all of that I also attend college, though I do get permission to go for the shoot, sometimes I have had to miss classes,” says Aayush.

The experience of working with Sridevi and Akshaye Khanna, has been great he says. “Once they come on sets, they make our job easier because we get to learn so much from them,” he says. Aayush has shot with both Sridevi and Akshaye. However, with tight shoot schedules, there is not much time to bond after work. “Akshaye is a lot of fun to work with. The energy that he brings to the sets in infectious,” he says.

Though this is Aayush’s first film in the Hindi film industry, he is no stranger to acting. “I have done a couple of theatre productions in Hyderabad and have also done a supporting role in the Venkatesh starrer-Drushyam,” says the boy who is an alumni of Delhi Public School.
