It is going to be a race to the finish line between two of India’s top women cricketers — batswoman and captain Mithali Raj and all-rounder and former captain Jhulan Goswami.

Both these women are having biopics being made on their lives — the first two female cricketers from India, or rather the world, to ever get a full-fledged biopic.

The battle over who gets to the boundary ropes first has officially begun. The poster of the Taapsee Pannu starrer film Shabash Mithu, which is a biopic on Mithali Raj, is now out. Anushka Sharma, who is producing and acting in the Jhulan Goswami biopic, had registered two titles with the Indian Motion Pictures Producers’ Association (IMPPA) called Chakdaha Express and Chakda Express, going by Jhulan’s nickname. We hear that Anushka too is readying for a formal announcement of her film very soon.

“It is heartening to see two good biopics being made on women. We just hope that they don’t clash or the makers do not make any wrong decision about releasing them at an odd time just for the sake of being there first. They will only bleed instead of bleeding blue,” says a trade source.Meanwhile, Shabash Mithu is scheduled to release on February 5, 2021.
