The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince William and Kate Middleton, are all set to embark on their first official visit to India on April 10. During the 6-day tour of the country, the Royal couple will visit numerous locations over the course of the week. William and Kate will also attend a glitzy Bollywood reception and dinner held in their honour.
The Duke and Dutches will rub shoulders with some of the biggest names in the Bollywood industry and also a few from the business sector, sports, politics and socialites. According to reports, actors like Shah Rukh Khan, the Bachchans, Sonam Kapoor, Arjun Kapoor, Ranveer Singh, singer Kanika Kapoor to name a few, have been invited to be a part of the event. The gala will help raise funds for three non-government charitable organisations.
Their children Prince George and Princess Charlotte won’t be accompanying them on this visit.
While in Mumbai, William and Kate will visit the Taj Mahal Hotel, which was one of the scenes of the 2008 terror attacks. They will also stop by at the Oval Maidan to watch a cricket match and visit the Banganga Water Tank in Malabar Hill.
The royal couple will also pay their respects to Mahatma Gandhi at the place where he was assassinated in 1948, and travel to Kaziranga National Park in the state of Assam.
The highlight of their Indian tour will be their visit to the Taj Mahal in Agra. This visit is special to the Duke of Cambridge, as his late mother Princess Diana, visited the spot alone 24 years ago, which also signalled the end of her marriage to Prince Charles. William intends to visit the monument with his wife, so that they can create ‘new memories’.
William and Kate will then head to Bhutan to visit the King and Queen.
