Dhanush treks a new path in Tollywood
National award-winning Tamil star Dhanush is doing different roles in Tollywood and his latest look is from his new Telugu film ‘Kubera’ where he is seen as a new avatar. "Dhanush essays the role of a slum dweller and belongs to the lower strata of society. It is a rags-to-riches story but it would be narrated in a gripping and engrossing manner," says a source.
Yesterday, superstar Mahesh Babu, posted Kubera’s glimpse on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “A blend of action, drama, and cinematography! All the very best…” The 52-second-long video sees Dhanush as a slum-dweller looking happy. Nagarjuna is shown as a man living in Mumbai with his wife and daughter. Jim plays a high-flying businessman, while Rashmika seems to feel discontent with her middle-class life, wanting more.’
Coming back to Dhanush's plans, "Dhanush is quite selective about his roles in Telugu movies. When Sekhar Kammula narrated this idea, he immediately agreed to it and toiled hard to breathe into his realistic role and also raise the bar on movies on financial crimes in India," he points out. "Earlier, Dhanush played an upright high school teacher in another Telugu film 'Sir,' and proved his acting brilliance and tasted box office success."
Meanwhile, Dhanush is expanding his market in two Telugu states and his last dubbed film 'Raayan' was a decent hit and his performance received loads of appreciation.
