Some filmmakers and actors deliberately make controversial statements during film-related events to keep the buzz around their movies alive. While this strategy can work as long as boundaries aren’t crossed, some take it too far—leading to backlash.
Director Trinadha Rao Nakkina, known for films like Nenu Local and Dhamaka, is now gearing up for his next project, Mazaka, starring Sundeep Kishan. However, at the film’s trailer launch event, Trinadha Rao sparked outrage with his remarks about actress Anshu, who starred in the yesteryear blockbuster Manmadhudu.
During his speech, the director asked the audience whether Anshu looked the same as she did in Manmadhudu. He then went on to comment that she had gained weight—allegedly at his request. In a highly inappropriate remark, he claimed that he had asked her to put on weight because "Telugu audiences prefer plump heroines." These comments have led to severe backlash, with the director being heavily trolled for his insensitive and sexist remarks.
Adding to the controversy, Trinadha Rao appeared to imitate actor Allu Arjun’s recent behavior at a press meeting addressing the Pushpa 2 stampede incident. Onstage, he pretended to forget actress Ritu Varma’s name and dramatically asked for a water bottle, mimicking Allu Arjun’s gestures.
This is not the first time Trinadha Rao has made inappropriate remarks at public events. In a previous film-related gathering, he repeatedly insisted on hugging a heroine, making her visibly uncomfortable. His repeated controversial statements are drawing widespread criticism, with many calling out his unprofessional behavior.
