Game Changer’s Sankranthi release spurs Tamil stars to reschedule
Ram Charan’s highly anticipated film Game Changer is set for a Sankranthi release on January 10, 2025, prompting some Tamil stars to reconsider their release schedules to avoid a box office clash. Directed by Shankar, known for hits like Robot and Anniyan, the film carries substantial appeal among Tamil audiences, which has led some Tamil filmmakers to adjust their release plans.
“The combination of Ram Charan and Shankar has compelled a few Tamil stars to delay their releases to maximize their own revenue,” a distributor explains.
Ajith Kumar’s Good Bad Ugly, originally slated for Sankranthi, is reportedly moving to an April or May release, while Vikram’s Veera Dheera Soora, intended for multiple markets including Kerala, Karnataka, and Andhra Pradesh, may also shift to secure a solo release window. “With multiple states in play, a clash-free release would be ideal for Vikram’s film,” the distributor notes.
This pan-India appeal marks a shift, with Telugu and Tamil stars now considering each other's release calendars. With bigger budgets and multilingual releases becoming the norm, distributors are increasingly coordinating across the southern states to avoid clashes and optimize box office performance.
