The game of the coffee cup
Emilia Clarke reveals who’s responsible for the Game of Thrones coffee-cup gaffe.
Sophie Turner had shared her thoughts on an episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon about whose coffee cup it was that showed up in “The Last of Stark” episode of Game of Thrones’ final season. (She’d squarely planted the blame on Emilia Clarke’s burdened shoulders because, you know, the cup was sitting in front of her when the shot was taken! Ahem!)
Now, as per People, Emilia Clarke, also on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, has spoken about the infamous cup.
“Yeah, I heard. I heard what’s up,” Clarke jokingly said when Jimmy reminded her of Sophie’s deducing.
“Here’s the truth: We had a party before the Emmys recently and Conleth [Hill], who plays Varys — who’s sitting next to me in that scene — he pulls me aside and he’s like, ‘Emilia, I have got to tell you something, love. The coffee cup was mine’,” she recalled, adding also, “I think that’s who did it. He said it — he might have been drunk — but he said it!”
But back in May, Emilia had shared a photo of herself posing alongside Peter Dinklage and Jason Momoa, holding a disposable coffee cup in her hand for the shot. Recently even HBO responded to the snafu by clarifying Daenerys’ drink of choice. “The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake,” HBO said to People.
