All set to rock Hollywood
Student ensemble Qutub-E-Kirpaa, has composed the music for an English film, Lake of Fire... and have the Grammys in sight!
Qutub-E-Kirpaa, an ensemble of student musicians from A.R. Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory, has composed for an ambitious Hollywood project named Lake of Fire, directed by Raj Thiruselvan.
The music of the movie is said to be one of the major highlights, as the makers are planning to send the songs and the background score for the biggest awarding ceremonies across the world.
Speaking about the project and the music, director Raj excitedly says, “We want to show that Indian talent is equal to that of Hollywood. It has a woman-centric plot and will show how the lifestyle of alcoholic parents affects their children. I’m really happy that Christopher Atkins, who starred in the 1980s cult film, The Blue Lagoon, agreed to be a part of this. Apart from this, Indian-American actor Parvesh Cheena, is also doing a very important role. The movie was shot entirely in and around Hollywood, and we’re planning to release it on April 14.”
Elaborating on the film’s music, he says, “The output is unbelievably good. Qutub-E-Kirpaa worked for almost nine months on this and I’m sure it will be much-talked about after its release. It will be like a product from India with Hollywood standard.”
“We are planning to send our songs to the Grammy Awards and the background score for the Academy Awards. A song by an Indian symphony team will also be a major highlight. I should thank A.R. Rahman, and his family’s cooperation and encouragement,” says Raj.
Jerry Silvester Vincent of Qutub-E-Kirpaa, on the other hand, says, “We are excited for the launch. The music will have a very distinct flavour to it, as each of us in the team has brought his/her individual touch to it. The songs will be of various genres ranging from rap, electronic song, pop and more. Fingers crossed, audience will give a positive response.”
Meanwhile, Fathima, Executive Director of K.M.Conservatory, is also all praises for the team that has composed the music. “It’s indeed a proud moment for us. I’m sure the music will turn out to be a huge hit!” said Fathima.
