Ariana Grande on hairspray

Ariana Grande has revealed that she has been cast as Penny Pingleton in a live-television version of the hit musical Hairspray, called Hairspray Live! “Penny has been a dream role since Hairspray opened on Broadway. At 9, I was (and still am) in LOVE w @KerryButlerNyc. hope to make u proud,” the singer tweeted, and added, “Anyway...I’m so honored and beyond excited to be a part of this dream cast...... I will for sure pass out at the table read. #HairsprayLive.” The musical will be aired in the same format that Grease was produced earlier this year, which had another pop star Carly Rae Jepsen feature in the cast.
