Ed Sheeran sued for $20 million
The writers of Amazing Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard have hired Richard Busch as their attorney
British singer Ed Sheeran, known for his acoustic ballads and pop singles, has been sued for $20 million by lawyers who claim that his song Photograph is ripped off from X Factor winner Matt Cardle’s track Amazing.
The song, which came out in 2014 with his second studio album Multiply, is said to have been “copied, and exploited, without authorisation or credit, the work of other active, professional songwriters, on a breathtaking scale” by Ed and co-writer Johnny McDaid (of Snow Patrol) who “unabashedly” took credit, according to court documents obtained by Dailymail.co.uk.
The writers of Amazing — Martin Harrington and Thomas Leonard — have hired Richard Busch as their attorney, who recently won copyright infringement lawsuit against Robin Thicke and Pharrell for the song Blurred Lines.
