Fiery show: Lady Gaga and Metallica's James Hetfield perform at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.

Veteran rockers Metallica teamed up with an unlikely partner — Lady Gaga — on Sunday night to perform their song Moth To A Flame at the Grammy Awards, but the performance was marred with technical glitches and errors. After being promoted heavily by the Grammys themselves, presenter Laverne Cox did not mention the name of the band while introducing the act, only naming Lady Gaga.

Then, lead singer James Hetfield’s microphone didn’t seem to be switched on, as he went the whole of the first verse without any sound. He ultimately shared a mic with Gaga for the chorus, before engineers fixed his mic in time for the second verse. A visibly upset James proceeded to kick his mic stand down after the song was over, and then threw his guitar and pick at his technician.
