Dave Chappelle and John Mayer pay tribute to Charlie Murphy
TMZ.com reports that Dave took to the stage and praised Charlie for his friendship, comedy and storytelling.
In a touching incident, comedian and actor Dave Chappelle attended his friend John Mayer’s concert on Wednesday evening to pay tribute to a friend that both of them just lost — Charlie Murphy. TMZ.com reports that Dave took to the stage and praised Charlie for his friendship, comedy and storytelling, and expressed his love by telling the crowd that Mayer’s song, You’re Going to Live Forever in Me always reminded him of his friend.
“My good friend Charlie Murphy passed away this morning, and everybody in the comedy fraternity is heartbroken. Rest in peace, Charlie Murphy. We love you. We love your comedy. We love your stories, and we love your spirit,” said Dave, and urged the crowd to put their phones aside when he requested Mayer to perform the song, to “make a memory that only we have”. Mayer then stunned the crowd with his performance of the said song, in Charlie’s memory.
