The cards in his favour
The House of Cards actor Kevin Spacey gets a breather with the criminal case against him being dismissed.
It seems Kevin’s stars are back to favouring him. Reports from TMZ say that the criminal case against the star in Nantucket, Massachusetts, has been dismissed. TMZ has laid hands on the legal docs that say the case was dropped “due to the unavailability of the complaining witness.”
In 2016, the alleged victim who worked at a bar then, had made headlines when he’d accused Kevin of sexual assault. He said he was plied with alcohol by Kevin, who then repeatedly groped his genitals. The complainant also claimed he texted his girlfriend when this was happening.
The said texts were taken up in last week’s cross examination. Kevin’s lawyer had learnt that the complainant had selectively deleted texts. When pressed, he invoked the 5th amendment. Interestingly, it was former Boston TV anchor Heather Unruh, mother of the alleged victim, who had drawn up the case against Kevin in November 2017. Apparently, she confessed to investigators about deleting texts showing her son’s “frat boy activities.”
