No settlement for Mariah Carey
Singer claims that James Packer used her celeb status to secure business deals.
Mariah Carey, who recently split from ex-fiancé James Packer, will reportedly not settle with the billionaire outside of court after the singer accused him of being a “lying opportunist”.
TMZ.com reports that Mariah was asking James Packer $50 million in damages, after he “uprooted her life from New York”, that caused her emotional distress — eventually leading her to cancel her world tour’s South American leg. James, on the other hand, claims that Mariah cancelled the tour because of poor ticket sales. While the two were never married, Mariah alleges that James used her celebrity status to secure high-end business deals, dragging her to various meetings with foreign dignitaries — and she wants a cut from some of those deals.
