Local Youth Wins 28 International Awards for Hollywood Film Trailer

KARIMNAGAR: With 28 international film festival awards with the trailer of his first Hollywood movie under his belt, Gunda Venkat Sai from Karimnagar district is all set to make his mark in Hollywood with his upcoming American feature film ‘The Deserving’ which is about to stream in around 128 countries from October 1.

The 31-year-old Venkat Sai was a native of Sri Rama colony in Bhagath Nagar of Karimnagar city. Eleven years back, he went to America to pursue his M.S. Later, after getting a job in a software company he got married to Pratyusha.

From a young age, Venkat Sai showed interest in film making and acting. He showcased his storytelling prowess through the lens of a camera using photography as a medium to weave captivating tales. His parents Srinivas and Sunitha along with his wife Pratyusha encouraged his interest in films.

His journey in cinema began with a regional language web series ‘Vaddante Vasthave Prema’ streamed in 10 episodes which got unique recognition with over two million views which brought him into limelight in India.

Venkat Sai is not only the lead actor in the Hollywood film ‘The Deserving’ but also serves as the casting director, executive producer and producer for the film. The project is a testament to his commitment to the art of storytelling with a unique blend of American and Indian cultural influence which was shot in just 14 days.

Gunda Srinivas, father of Venkat Sai, said his son worked hard to shoot the film right from the writing of the story to completing the movie. Since he had a habit of watching English movies from childhood onwards, he decided to make a film in English.

He also said that as a parent they never tried to stop him in choosing his choice of interests. At a young age, he showed interest in camera. When he decided that he would pursue his higher education in America they sent him and never thought that he would make a movie which would get world-wide recognition and many awards, he added.
