Taylor Swift has said that she felt terrible after her Eras Tour concerts in Vienna were canceled because of the terrorist plot against her. She wrote these thoughts on Instagram to mark the end of her tour’s European leg.
The cancellation of Swift's Vienna concerts on August 8 happened when two men who had allegedly planned a terrorist attack were apprehended by Austrian officials. As one source claimed, one of them pledged allegiance to IS and wanted to make an attack at Swift’s Eras Tour. Overnight, close to 200,000 fans were going to show up for the shows in Vienna.
Swift wrote that it was because of the authorities that she was not mourning over “concerts but lives.” The artist also considered this situation from another angle: many fans traveled thousands of miles only for their plans to be changed by unforeseen events.
She explained why she had kept quiet about it until then pointing out that she put her fans’ safety first. “If I believe addressing something will incite people into harming those who come to my shows, then you better believe I’m not going to talk about it out loud,” she wrote. “In situations like this ‘silence’ is more like discretion- waiting for the right time.”
After cancelling the shows meant for Vienna, Swift came back and concentrated on her next stop; London where they are supposed to perform at Wembley Stadium. Her team worked closely with British authorities and stadium staff as they prepared for nearly half a million fans set to attend her Wembley Stadium performances. The singer is relieved that Europeans ended safely despite all odds.
When talking about the UK leg of the tour, Swift described how spirited and resilient her followers have been throughout it all.. "All five crowds at Wembley Stadium were bursting with passion, joy, and exuberance," she shared. "The energy in that stadium was like the most giant bear hug from 92,000 people each night, and it brought me back to a place of carefree calm up there."
The post by Swift opens up on the mixed feelings resulting from the concert cancellations in Vienna, as well as her commitment to keeping her fans safe. Despite the fear and uncertainty, she managed to complete her European tour successfully, giving birth to everlasting memories for her fans.
