Interestingly, two contrasting Telugu films to compete in the Indian Panorama section in the upcoming International Film Festival of India (IFFI) being organized between November 20 and 28 in Goa. While, 'Kalki 2898 AD,' is a big-budget and extravagant science fiction thriller set in a post-apocalyptic world and a group on a mission to save an unborn child, Kalki, the avatar of Hindu God Vishnu. In total contrast, another Telugu film ‘35 Chinna Katha Kaadu’ revolves around a young mother whose son is poor in academics and encourages its viewers to overcome setbacks in life “These two films are as different as chalk and cheese and set to bring glory to Telugu cinema. However, they face stiff competition with 50-odd movies from Malayalam, Tamil, Assam, and Marathi. Punjabi and Hindi movies and quite a challenge ahead,” says a member of the Telugu Film Producers Council and adds, “Out of the feature films selected for Indian Panorama, up to three films will be identified by the Indian Panorama Jury for the Competition Section of 55th International Film Festival of India. The Indian Panorama films will be used for participation in various international film festivals, film weeks, Indian Panorama festivals, and other non-commercial screenings, within the country and abroad," he adds.

He claims that international delegates and media personnel besides filmmakers from other states in India would be watching our films and going to judge them too. "Moving to the competition section is considered special and our filmmakers are aiming to win loads of appreciation. While 'Kalki' is a blockbuster worldwide, other heartwarming films received loads of critical acclaim. Let us wait and watch," he concludes.
