SS Rajamouli's Endorsement Helped KGF Secure Release in Telugu States

A reliable source claims that the makers of ‘KGF’ featuring Yash and Srinidhi Shetty had approached ace director S S Rajamouli in 2018 to release their film in two Telugu states. “When they screened the film for few distributors in Hyderabad, they urged the makers to approach S S Rajamouli since he can judge such action adventures better,” says a distributor who claims that Kannada producer Vijay Kirgandur had invested heavily in the film and was looking to recover his money by releasing the film in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. “It was a positive response from SS Rajamouli which paved the way for the film to hit the screens in Telugu states,” he adds.
Kannada producers realized that Karnataka market was lesser in comparison to Telugu market and believed that Telugu audience would lap up such larger-than-life movies. “S S Rajamouli urged his friend and producer-distributor Sai Korrapati to distribute the film since it has enough potential to strike a chord with the masses and it worked wonders,” he adds. However, ‘KGF 2’ had an easy release in two Telugu states since the earlier part rocked the box office. “KGF: Chapter Two’ had a hassle-free release in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana in 2022 and it set cash registers ringing and added Telugu fans to Yash’s looks, swag and brooding performance. He has become a favourite for Telugu viewers too,” he points out.
In fact, many Telugu producers rushed to Bangalore to sign Yash for big ticket movies and also offered him big sums but he didn’t budge. “He had rejected three to four plum offers from Telugu producers," he concludes.
