The interesting aspect of the film is that Dhanush has rendered a song and his wife Aishwarya has given a voice-over.
Popular choreographer/actress Gayathri Raghuram’s new avatar is as a filmmaker. Her film titled Yaadhumaagi Nindrai, which is about group dancers, has raised lot of curiosity among film buffs.
With a female-centric subject, Gayathri has also essayed the lead protagonist in the movie which chronicles the life of a dancer from a young age till she reaches big heights in her career. “It is my late dad Raghuram master’s dream that I should become a director. ‘Dance’ being his favourite subject, I chose this and there’s an important message in it,” Gayathri starts her conversation.
Thanking her aunt and noted choreographer Kala, she says, “I call her Kala master. It was she who encouraged me to pursue my dream and supported me in everything, from identifying the cast and crew to the time I finished my project. She stood in place of ‘my dad’ in my endeavour.”
The interesting aspect of the film is that Dhanush has rendered a song and his wife Aishwarya has given a voice-over. “Even though we all have known each other for a long time, I approached Dhanush for a song, with slight apprehension. Without any hesitation, he said, ‘I would do anything for my friend’. And again, Aishwarya and I have been buddies ever since we worked in Vai Raja Vai. She also stood with me through-out the production. It was heart-warming!”
Gayathri says the film is based on two real life incidents. “I have been tutored by filmmaker Vijay and hence there’s no room for sleazy or vulgar content. It imparts a message that ‘women are not weak and should stand up for herself,” sums up the director.
