Star cricket match teams named after districts in state

Star cricket match on April 17; there will be eight teams, each with six players.

CHENNAI: A star cricket match is to be conducted on April 17 to raise funds for constructing the Nadigar Sangam building. This was decided by the association’s general body meeting recently. All top actors of Kollywood, including Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are expected to attend the glitzy event.

Meanwhile, news on the teams, which will be playing the cricket match and the team captains, is out. There will be eight teams and each team will have six players. Interestingly, the teams have been named after popular districts of Tamil Nadu.

Accordingly, Madurai College, Chennai Singams, Nellai Dragons, Thanjai Warriors, Trichy Tigers, Ramnad Rhinos, Kovai Kings and Salem Cheetahs are the names of the teams.

Actors who have been chosen to captain the eight teams include Suriya, Vishal, Karthi, Jayam Ravi, Jiiva, Arya, Sivakarthikeyan and Vijay Sethupathi.
Discussions are on as to who would head which team and selection of players for each team.

From among actresses, Anushka, Trisha, Samantha, Kajal Agarwal and Nayanthara are being approached for brand ambassadors. Amitabh, Rajini and  Kamal are to inaugurate the Star Cricket.

A TV channel has reportedly bagged rights of the star cricket match for Rs 8 crore, which would be used for the construction of sangam  building.
