It is a challenging task to adapt a book to screen presentation and you will not be able to satisfy those who read the classic novel,” Says Vetri Maaran who is geared up for the release of Asuran, his fourth collaboration with Dhanush, adapted from the celebrated political novel Vekkai by Poomani. One may recall Vetri Maaran’s much acclaimed flick Visaranai was adapted from the novel Lock Up. The national award winner elaborates, “It’s a major learning while I had my tutelage under Balu Mahendra sir. It is a big task to convert a novel into a film and at the same time retaining its core essence. However, it is a different medium. When you are adapting a book to a visual medium, you tend to leave a few things and add a few new ones. For those who have not read the novel, Asuran would create an impact.” On Dhanush he says,  “He has always been a dedicated actor. For the role of 50-year-old Sivasami in Asuran, Dhanush has put in phenomenal effort. With his extreme level of dedication, he pulled off the challenging character effortlessly.”

Dhanush said, “I deliberately avoided reading Vekkai beforehand, as I feared that it might create certain impressions on the lead protagonist. I just went with the director’s vision andscreeplay.”
