Looks like filmmaker Velu Prabhakaran, known for his controversial adult content themes and anti-theist films, is also smitten by sequels. He has launched a sequel to his earlier film Kadavul, which created a huge buzz for its debatable content when released in 1997. The new movie is titled Kadavul 2, and Prabhakar plays the lead role of God who descends on earth to change society.

The film has RR Tami Selvan, Swathy as the lead pair with Imman Annachi and veteran Seetha essaying crucial roles. Prabhakaran has also roped in ace Sathyaraj and Seeman for a powerful cameo. And the director’s regular maestro Ilayaraja scores the music.

Speaking to DC, Prabhakaran said, “Earlier, it is believed Gods came to earth manifesting themselves as Rama, Krishna and Venkatesa. In my film God takes the avatar of a man to mingle with society. And I portray that role where I will be seen as a filmmaker in the flick. He does only what is needed in today’s scenario. How he tries to bring about a change in people after analysing them forms the crux.”

Do you take a dig at politicians and political parties? “Yes, undoubtedly!  I lash out on them as well as suggest ideas as how politicians need to change their ways.” Among the four songs, Raja has rendered two of them, he adds.

The Kadhal Arangam filmmaker also reveals that Buddha, Jesus and Nabigal Nayagam are the biggest heroes for him.
