Ashwin Shekar is on a roll
On choosing roles, Ashwin says that he follows his dad's advice.
Fresh off the success of Manal Kayiru -2, Ashwin Shekar, son of veteran actor and politician S.Ve. Shekar, is on a roll. Speaking to DC, Ashwin says, “There were positive responses for Manal Kayiru-2 and I was happy that I could reprise the role that my dad did in the original. Now, good scripts have started coming my way and I have heard three scripts, one of which would be finalised soon.”
When we ask about the Tamil remake of Tollywood rom-com — Naveen Vijay Krishna-starrer Nandini Nursing Home, Ashwin responds in a composed tone, “It is in the nascent stage. At this point of time, I can’t reveal much about it.”
On choosing roles, Ashwin says that he follows his dad’s advice. “My appa always says ‘go for good content and your role contributes to the script. If you follow that, other things would automatically fall in place.’ Also, like him, I am a director’s actor (smiles).”
However, the actor says that he would love to explore roles with negative shades. “I love to do powerful antagonist characters like Bobby Simhaa did in Jigarthanda.”
Shekar on his part said that Ashwin’s plus is that he grasps the dialogues fast and reproduces them in just one take.
