I play a courageous, village girl in Muthuramalingam: Priya Anand
Priya Anand who is going de-glam in her next outing.
Priya Anand is known for pulling off suave, urbane looks in her films. But the actress is now playing the role of a schoolgirl in her next film, Muthuramalingam, directed by Rajadurai.
“I play the role of Vijayalakshmi in this rural entertainer; she is not the typical, shy village girl! She is very courageous, and I also have to learn Silambam for the part. In fact, there is a scene in the film in which Gautham Karthik (Muthuramalingam in the movie) teaches me the martial art. Learning it was actually an inspiring experience. I see little girls in these villages fighting to save their culture and tradition,” she added.
The actress has finished shooting her talkie portions and has only two songs yet to be completed. The movie, produced by Vijay Prakash was shot entirely in Kutralam, Pollachi, and Chennai.
Having maintained a low profile in 2015, Priya is hoping to have an eventful 2016 — “I have been doing clichéd roles so far — therefore, I opted for a village-subject for the first time in Tamil and I will be shooting for a Malayalam film from today. I have also shot for a Kannada movie with Puneeth Rajkumar. “
The Ethir Neechal star is already thrilled, as she pushed herself out of her comfort zone by attempting to work in different languages. She is also on the verge of signing a new Tamil film, which is still in its nascent stage.
