Pooja Devariya forays into Sandalwood
The Iraivi actress is now brushing up her Kannada for the upcoming Senna Hedge's film.
For Pooja Devariya script is always the king, and she has reiterated that time and again with her choice of films like Iraivi and Kuttrame Dhandanai. Now, the talented actress is making her debut in Kannada with the upcoming film of Senna Hegde, which will be produced by Rakshit Shetty and Pushkara Mallikarjunaiah. Like her previous films, even the yet-untitled film relies more on script, according to the young actress.
Talking about how the whole thing panned out, she says, “I like the kind of films Rakshit produces. So, long ago, I dropped in a word with him that I would like to do films in Kannada. So, when Senna was looking for an actress, this film came up. I went to Bengaluru for the audition. I read the script and it was lovely.”
“The script is centered around my character. There are a lot of emotions, drama, and I was like ‘Omg, this was something I would definitely want to do’. She comes a bit late in the movie, but her entry changes the mood of the film. Her presence also affects all the other characters in the movie,” Pooja says about her role.
Pooja, whose mother is a Kannadiga, is currently brushing up her Kannada — “I went to my maternal grandmother’s place to brush up my Kannada; to get the diction and the pronunciation right. (laughs)”
When we ask if she goes after such scripts or they find her themselves, she says, “I definitely put that energy out there because I look out for scripts like this. So, I strongly believe that if you put out that energy about what you want, the things will come finding you.”
