Actress-director-host, Lakshmy Ramakrishnan is a woman of strong opinions, and her films reflect her thought process on the society. Her previous outing Ammani, which starred 80-year-old Subbalakshmi and herself, received critical acclaim and held unanimous praise from the audience and critics alike.

A couple of days ago, the director evinced interest in remaking the recently-released Bollywood flick, Hindi Medium, starring Irrfan Khan and Saba Qamar. Lakshmy’s tweet read, “Brilliant film @HindiMediumfilm Tamil language rights sold? If not, may I have the contact numbers for proceeding with this?” (sic).

A reliable source reveals, “She sought help through Twitter and caught hold of the contact numbers of the producer’s number. The director is in Mumbai and has met the makers of Hindi Medium. Currently, talks are going on for a possible Tamil remake. But, nothing has been finalised yet.”

Hindi Medium’s plot revolves around a couple, who aims to get admission at an English medium school for their daughter. However, the elitists have a problem with that. The film has dealt with the importance of a language in the society.
