A tweet by director UR Jameel, who has brought ex-flames Simbu and Hansika Motwani together for his upcoming suspense thriller Maha, has sparked rumours that the duo might be back in a relationship.

Hansika’s female-centric milestone 50th film has been in the news ever since the first look of the movie got released. Directed by Jameel, a former assistant of Lakshman, it was mired in controversy right from the start when Hansika was seen sporting a saffron outfit smoking ganja from a chillum along with saints in Varanasi, leading a few Hindu outfits to complain that it had hurt their sentiments.

Later, when Jameel announced that Simbu, the ex-beau of Hansika would be doing an extended cameo in the film, it created even more buzz. A romantic song with the couple was recently shot at Goa and pictures of them together have since gone viral on online platforms.

Most recently, one of Jameel’s posts on his social media handle, calling STR and Hansika as a ‘magical couple’ has left fans wondering if they have renewed their relationship.

“Actor Simbu and actress Hansika fans please calm down soon we’ll release the first look of the magical couple -U.R.J. #hansika50 #STR #Simbu @ihansika @GhibranOfficial @EtceteraEntert1 @MathiyalaganV9 @laxmanmfi @AbrahamEditor (sic),” he tweeted.

However, Jameel clarifies, “I don’t think my tweet is misleading in any way. I’m making a film and when I wrote the script, it had characters deeply in love. STR and Hansika are paired up romantically in my film. And even on the sets, I narrated the same as what I had penned. Both of them are very professional and they did what the script demanded. I am happy with the outcome. That’s why I called them a ‘magical couple’. Nothing more to it!”

Interestingly, Simbu and Hansika were in a relationship a few years ago but later parted ways. The duo was last seen in 2015 starrer Vaalu, directed by Vijay Chander.
