Karthik Naren, who made a stunning debut with Dhuruvangal 16, and his second film Naragassoran which got jinxed, has moved on to his next.  Mafia, a gangster film, features Arun Vijay in the lead with actor Prasanna turning a powerful antagonist. Priya Bhavani Shankar essays the female lead.

Speaking to DC after releasing the first look of Mafia, which has gone viral, Karthik says, “It is a gangster saga, but not the routine one set in North Chennai which you often see in Tamil cinema. Though set in a city milieu, it has an intense drama and is shot in a stylish manner.”

Though Karthik was not too willing to divulge the story, he said Arun Vijay is not a gangster and he will have a slight image makeover. “Priya Bhavani will be sporting a never seen before avatar in terms of looks as well as her character. Hers is a crucial role and integral part of the script.” While Jakes Bijoy scores the music, Gokul Binoy does the cinematography. Bankrolled by Lyca Productions, the movie will go on floors in a few days.
