Nadavula Konjam.. director's next!

Balaji Tharaneetharan of Naduvula Konjam Pakkatha Kaanum (NKPK) fame is ready with his next film, Oru Pakka Kathai featuring Kalidas Jayaram and Megha Akash in the lead roles. After the flick’s  announcement in 2014, it is finally ready for a release by  August end or September after two years of production.

Speaking to DC, Balaji said, “We wrapped up the shooting in 2015 after which the post-production started. We wanted to release the movie at the right time, so we had to hold it considering a couple of biggies released recently. “

Oru Pakka Kathai is inspired from real-life incidents. Unlike his NKPK, the story of this film is not based on a couple. “This is a love drama and it talks about a problem between the lovers played by Kalidas and Megha. I have incorporated humour elements as a part of the script. But, it won’t be a full-length comedy like NKPK. This film also has a social message told in a subtle manner,” he stated.

According to the director, the teaser sans dialogues was a deliberate attempt as he wanted to convey the glimpses of the film through visuals and music. He further added that there would be a trailer with dialogues at the audio launch. When we quizzed him about having a lavish audio launch, he revealed, “Kamal Haasan attended the movie launch. So, Kalidas’ father Jayaram and producers are planning to have a grand audio launch.

The guest list shall be finalised soon.” Balaji adds that the delay of Oru Pakka Kathai did not slow him down — “I am working on another script and talks are on with producers. There was a huge gap after my first film, so I don’t want to waste my time anymore!”
